Binary Dragons win Adria Masters S1
The first season of The Adria Masters has been drawn to an end, with Binary Dragons defeating Forcebuy 2-0 (16-4 Train, 16-11 Cobblestone) in the grand final.
Adria Masters Season 1 kicked off with an open qualifier on April 22nd, and the Danish squad Forcebuy was one of the two teams to secure a slot in the online portion of the 16-team competition.
In the past few weeks, teams battled in four BO3 GSL groups, with the two best teams from each group advancing to the playoffs. In the end, the three best teams that earned spots at the LAN finals were Binary Dragons, Nexus and the open qualifier team Forcebuy. The last LAN spot was reserved for a local, Serbian team, with Squared earning their place at the finals through the wildcard qualifier.
Due to last minute border issues, Nexus couldn't make it to the event that was held in Belgrade, Serbia, so another local team came in to replace them: Fireplay, who finished second in the wildcard qualifier.
The LAN was played out as a single elimination BO3 bracket and kicked off with Forcebuy taking on Squared. In a tight match on Overpass, Petar "HOLMES" Dimitrijević stood out for the local team, but the Danes outshone them in the end, taking the first map 16-11 before smashing Squared 16-3 on Cobblestone to make it 2-0.
Binary Dragons, by far the best Serbian team, didn't have too many issues dispatching of Fireplay, with Nestor "LETN1" Tanić going 25-9 in their 16-4 victory on Cache. Binary Dragons closed out the series and moved on to the grand final with a 16-10 win on Inferno.
The grand final started with another stomp—Binary Dragons' Train was too hot to handle for Forcebuy, who picked up only four CT rounds and ultimately lost 16-4. On their own map pick, the Danes put up a good fight, especially Sebastian "larsen" Larsen, but the home crowd favorites managed to close out the game and the series with a strong Terrorist display on Cobblestone.
